Tony Graf (webdiod) has astounded us with his intriguing styles and incredible 2D artwork. Brian (alphakx) interviews the man behind the mask with the following interview.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

How are you Tony?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I'm fine, how are you?

Brian Smith (alphakx)

I'm doing ok myself, just sneaking this interview in behind my instructor's back in class.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

I'm not supposed to be on instant messenger...lol

Brian Smith (alphakx)

So tell the folks a little about yourself, who you are, what you do, etc.

Tony Graf (webdiod)

okay, I'm 26 years old, I've been doing abstract designs for a little over a year, when I'm not designing I'm playing on my X-box hanging with my GF or playing with my punk rock band.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Bowser is your band right? I hear your band represents a lot of causes, tell me about it.

Tony Graf (webdiod)

yup, that's right, we're strong supporters of animal and human rights, most of our lyrics are very political.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Excellent, very cool!

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What's your role in the band Bowser? Like what instruments do you play?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I'm the drummer in my band, I also write most of the lyrics.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

So you are this month's featured artist for depthCORE. What or who inspires you to create your mad awesome art?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I get inspiration from a lot of different sources much comes obviously from other art, another big fuel source is music.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What bands do you listen to that you derive your inspiration from?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

it all depends, some off my favorite bands are, Misfits, Tiger Army, AFI, Death by Stereo. But if I'm going to listen to something a little softer I usually listen to The Plan or Christian Kjellvander among others.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Excellent what an interesting collection! What are your primary tools of the trade?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

3dsMax and Photoshop.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Where do you live currently?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

In Gothenburg, Sweden.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

wow, gosh, a lot of major excellent digital artists originate from Sweden. Is there some kind of vibe or special place or event in Sweden that pops out all these great artists (yourself included)?

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Or is it probably just by shear coincidence? hehe~

Tony Graf (webdiod)

maybe good gene's?

Brian Smith (alphakx)

that sounds about right :-)

Tony Graf (webdiod)

:)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Do you work? If so, where?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

Nope, I'm currently unemployed. :'-( I'm looking for projects though.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

lucky, I suppose

Tony Graf (webdiod)

if being poor is lucky.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

ah, well that sucks.

Tony Graf (webdiod)

yup

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Why do you create your art? And where do you see yourself in the future with your art?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I create art because I think its fun and it's a really good way to develop my design skills. It seams like you gotta be pretty well know to be able to get any good freelance projects, and by creating nice art it's a lot easier to get publicity. In the future I'm hoping to be able to use my art skills to produce some nice prints such as magazine ad's and stuff like that.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What's your favorite video game of all time!?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

hmmm, I really enjoyed metal gear solid 2 substance.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

really? Awesome, I have sons of liberty, but haven't gotten substance yet

Tony Graf (webdiod)

substance is awesome!

Brian Smith (alphakx)

what game do you want to buy next?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I just bought splinter cell, I've also just completed it.

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I'm really looking forward to the pc release of gta vice city.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

vice city on PC ehh? God that's going to be sweet, considering how much stuff you can do on PC that consoles can't

Tony Graf (webdiod)

yup.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Are you a skateboarder?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I guess you could call me a semi skateboarder ;-) I have a board and I can do some trix but I hardly skate every day, when I skate, it's mostly in the summer. But I dress like a skateboarder though :D

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Are you into other styles of art besides abstract?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

I'm in to body art! Like tattoos and hole stretching ;-)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What's your coolest tattoo?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

hmmm.... I think it hast to be my koi sleeve.

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Tony Graf (webdiod)

Tony Graf (webdiod)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

What's a swallow?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Oh yeah.

Tony Graf (webdiod)

lol

Brian Smith (alphakx)

Well... I suppose it is time to wrap this interview up. Any final thoughts on your mind you'd like to share?

Tony Graf (webdiod)

yeah, remember that you can make a difference in this world, if you believe in what you do. Never give up the struggle.
