Lately I haven't felt the desire to sit on the computer all day and perfect my latest illustration using retouch tools, filters and different brushes. The desire to mix mediums and experiment with brushstrokes and the natural, energetic feeling of painting has been much stronger. These pieces are stripped down to just the essential drawing, I guess, almost primal, with no corrections - working with error and accident. I've used no Photoshop on these, only just to scan and reduce to present here. These are just acrylic, ink, watercolour, pencil, pen and marker and the basis of each illustration is created using a H pencil and a Kuretake Pen Brush. I'm planning to post each page from my new notebook n my new blog, these simple pieces will feature amongst my usual highly detailed work. I haven't turned my back on working digitally, I love completing a complex digital piece - I think it's important at some point each year to reground and get back to basics. I hope these simple energetic images will help to add to my style and start to construct something exciting for the future.
