Aaliyah was a gorgeous RnB singer from 90s whose life and career was tragically cut short in a plane crash in 2001. I always loved her work (her One In A Million album was produced by Timbaland and Missy Elliott, both becoming successful after it was released). She had such great elegance, always positive, always beautiful. She was killed in a plane crash at aged 21 after filming her "Rock The Boat" video, which is actually one of director Hype William's most beautiful pieces of video. While her musical legacy probably won't be regarded as highly as somebody like Kurt Cobain or Jim Morrison, her death made me question and think about life and death and its purpose. Is it all supposedly laid out before you? Or is it by a number of factors that eventually enter your environment that ends with you meeting your maker? I was just about to turn 21 when died, it just haunted me really. It's really sad she never got to reach her full potential, I guess that is one of my fears. I wanted to again capture her beauty, her elegance, her energy with this one. According to the internet her name is Arabic for High and Sublime.
