Biography

Hello, I'm Phil Dunne. I'm an illustrator from Dublin Ireland. For the past twenty years I've been drawing, painting, doodling and generally having crazy creative thoughts.

In 1999 I began my degree course, BDes in Visual Communications in the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin. In 2003, after graduating, I began to build a portfolio of diverse projects and clients. I worked on projects like children's books, private commissions, fashion illustration and graphic design briefs. Funny times...I was a display assistant and designer by day and then an insomniac illustrator by night.

Developing my style took a long time, I wanted to find a good mix of traditional drawing and painting and surreal Photoshop techniques. In 2006, after many attempts at promoting myself and getting a website together, I launched version 1 of www.lovetherobot.com.

I created illustrations for ANTI magazine, Computer Arts and Back2OldSkool, a charity book showcasing Irish design talent. In November 2006, I was announced as the winner of a public design competition held by Candy Magazine and Sony Playstation. 'PSP+ME' was a wonderful once off event held by Candy Collective and Sony in Temple Bar. My illos were featured alongside major Irish design and illustration talents.

In 2007, my illustrations were featured in Computer Arts, Belio Magazine, L'etoile and Grafuck Book 3. I also produced 16 exclusive illustrations for Candy Magazine Ireland, to celebrate the magazine's second birthday. I also released my own free illustration pdf magaine.

In 2008, I plan to higher the output of personal projects and illustrations! I will be relaunched my website in Febrauary 2008, with sparkling new content and a revamp of my pdf magazine with several new issues...
