I was thinking of possible creatures from our past with the restriction that it had to look like an ancestor to one of the animals which are currently inhabiting our planet.
I can imagine that horns which reflect the spectrum of the sunlight would be a valuable trophy to humans, and I believe such a creature would have a hard time to survive through time.
